Nude photos of hundreds of young Chinese women, who were forced to hand over nude selfies as collateral for cash loans, have been leaked online.

Underground loan sharks forced their victims, mostly college students, to send nude selfies holding their ID cards as a “guarantee” for the loans.

This week, a 10GB file containing photos of over 1,000 women was shared among Chinese internet users.

This horrifying practice is carried out through Jiedaibao, a peer-to-peer lending platform that allows users to broker their own deals, though it remains unclear who leaked the photos.

In June, it was revealed that young girls were being forced to send nude selfies holding their ID cards in order to borrow several thousand yuan at exorbitant interest rates.

These ruthless loan sharks threaten to contact the victims’ parents and post the photos online if the money isn’t repaid.

The photos are transferred via two popular messaging apps, QQ and WeChat.

Li Li told the Southern Metropolis Daily that she owes loan sharks 55,000 yuan.

She originally took out a loan for a mere 500 yuan, which is equivalent to just over £50.
